Chupacabra
Discos Resaca Collective and Mariposas del Alma have new music out now. Their album ‘Y Te Cuento’ has 11 amazing grooves you need to hear ASAP.
The Oakland, CA
group plays amazing cumbias infuenced by the sonidero style as well as
the Bay Area music scene. The percussion heavy band throws down some
awesome beats to keep you dancing. The accordion and synthesizer fueled
jams are sure to brighten your day. If you’re tired of hearing Grupo
Kual over and over on the radio but want a independent act with similar
flare check out this album.
Some of my
favorites are ‘Chupacabra’ and ‘Movimiento De Cumbia.’ They just
released a superb music video for their song ‘Chupacabra.’ The catchy
accordion filled sonidero is about dancing with the mischievous
legendary chupacabra, and is animated in a lovely 8bit retro video game
aesthetic. Don’t miss this one.
