MUSIC REVIEW - Spaghetti Cumbia
Spaghetti Cumbia is one of my favorite bands ever. They put on a wild live performance often with over 3 hours of rockin danceable tunes. The western themed psychedelic Latin rock group never disappoints with fun lyrics and dancing, and insane guitar and drum solos. They blend styles and genres like Cumbia, Chicha, Corrido, Salsa, Rock, and Boogaloo into one spicy Salsa.
I had the pleasure of interviewing them as part of the series Culture Jam season 2. If you haven’t seen it, check it out and get to know the guys behind the music.
Fortune has graced us as they have not one but two new recordings out on iTunes, Spotify and everywhere else! I was actually present for part of the recording session in East LA for ‘Spaghetti Ready’ and you’re gonna love this one.
The song is a laid back Chicha style Cumbia with relaxing surf guitar and fun, rich vocals. The different effects pedals used to distort the guitar give the track a great voice. The song is sure to get stuck in your head for days.
‘Ojos’ packs a punch and has more of a border ballad sound than “Spaghetti Ready.” ‘Ojos’ is a rockin’ Tex-Mex party you don’t want to miss, so make sure to stream Spaghetti Cumbia’s new tracks today. If you live in SoCal check out Spaghetti Cumbia live as they perform quite often.
Follow Spaghetti Cumbia to stay up to date on where to see them and stay tuned to Sharks Eat Meat for daily art and culture news.
